Introduction

EUTIC 06 – which was organized by CREATIC (U.L.B.) - took place at the Free University of Brussels in September 2006, and dealt with questions related to “Social ties and professional integration”.

EUTIC 07 took place in Athens and its theme was “The Media and information dissemination: towards an open society”. It was organized by the New Technologies Laboratory in Communication, Education and the Mass Media of the University of Athens.

EUTIC 2008 will take place in Lisbon this October. The general theme will be “The dynamics of development: at the crossroads of the world”. It is aimed at university teaching staff and students, professionals and decision makers concerned with questions concerning the impact of ICT on the dynamics of sustainable development and is being organized by C.I.T.I. - The Centre for Research into Interactive Technologies of the New University of Lisbon.

The wealth and diversity of contributions will enable the widening of perspectives on international cooperation.

Specialists as well as those interested in the area have been invited to analyse and debate the following themes:

1. ICT – the dynamics of sustainable development and political challenges.
2. Sustainable development and electronic democracy (social responsibility).
3. Spread of information and the dynamics of change.
4. Real and virtual worlds.
5. Major questions concerning e-learning.
