E-LEARNING: AN EVALUATION OF ITS USE AS AN INSTRUMENT FOR FUNCTIONAL PROGRESSION OF NURSING

ABSTRACT

This dissertation aims to evaluate the use of e-Learning as an instrument for the functional progression of nursing professionals at the General Hospital of Alagoas State. In order to do so, a study was carried out on the subject, on distance education and on job and career plans based on the existing literature, as well as the health care career, in particular the career of a senior health technician, in order to explain the rules on the functional progression of nurses, professional category object of this study.
The career in question establishes criteria for horizontal progression (grade change) which are: Proof of the degree of training and qualification or training courses with a determined minimum workload, as well as compliance with the intersection of 05 (five) years from one grade to another.
The present study is an analytic-descriptive research with a quantitative approach through a structured questionnaire survey, since it was not only intended to describe the variables, but mainly to analyze their relations, aiming to establish cause and effect relationships or delimitate risk and protection factors.
After analyzing the data collected, it was possible to infer that the courses in Distance Education have contributed to the professional development of nurses, as well as to their functional progression. It is important to emphasize that if it were not for the flexibility of this type of teaching, it would not be a significant number of functional progressions in the category studied.
