PROPOSAL AND EVALUATION OF AN E-LEARNING TRAINING MODEL FOR HEALTH PROFESSIONALS

ABSTRACT

This investigation has the objective of drawing up a formative solution through e-learning, in the field of professional training. It aims at responding to the specific needs of hospital sterilization nurses, and testing this solution.

Considering that these professionals need to periodically update their knowledge, taking into consideration the technological development that is taking place, and considering the difficulty they have of leaving their work post, an e-learning training course was planned as a way to promote the formation of these professionals.

For that effect a convenience sample was constructed, represented by nurses from sterilization services of several hospitals throughout continental Portugal, to test and evaluate this training solution.

Although it is not possible to extrapolate the results obtained  in this study to the universe of nurses, we can conclude that training through e-learning facilitates learning and consequently the updating of the knowledge of these professionals. We can also infer, from existing literature, that it is pertinent to invest in this training model as long as it is duly adapted to the context where it occurs.
