E-LEARNING IMPACTS ON THE SECONDARY EDUCATION

ABSTRACT

The aim of this project was to investigate what secondary teachers think of the use of e-learning platforms as a useful tool for an in person teaching. The research intended to check the qualitative contribution that platforms can introduce in the classroom, so we tried to know the interest of teachers in them; check if they have training to use this technology; identify the main benefits for the  teaching/learning process of the different  subjects and which are the obstacles to its use.

We made a research of exploratory characteristic based on a qualitative approach. As data collection procedure we used a mixed questionnaire of open and closed format questions.

The result of this research suggest that the teachers show interest in the use of platforms; they have technical and pedagogical knowledge about them and the majority is already using the Moodle platform as a support in their in person classes. They showed as main advantages of greater motivation, autonomy and cooperation among students, agreeing that the use of new technologies of information and communication promotes the diversification  of strategies, a more individualised support to students and increase students involvement in the educational process through a collaborative work.

They presente as main obstacle to the integration of platforms in classroom the extra time that is necessary to prepare lessons.
