THE MOODLE PLATFORM AT THE SERVICE OF TEACHER LINKS
ABSTRACT
The present study describes the development of a project work carried out in a group of schools in the region of Lisbon. The study aimed to develop proposals for solutions that allow the realization of joint work between teachers, using flexible spatio-temporal structures - in this case, the Moodle platform. The project arose as a response to new challenges in terms of interaction and communication between teachers of public schools, a concept that, in the current situation, refers to a set of schools of different cycles of education managed by the same entity.
During the study, experimental situations were developed on two fronts, selected as key points of the joint work of teachers: teamwork among teachers of a class council and the curricular development in partnership. Although completely different, these two plans cover the universe of teacher’s cooperative work - the work between peers and with students -, summarizing their communication needs, collaboration and joint action.
For conducting experimental studies, we selected two groups in which it was predicted to be possible to develop these projects, performing thus a convenience sample, which does not allow the extension of the results to the world of school groups. Still, the analysis of the conclusions resulted in the preview of the potential of Moodle platform at the service of joint work between teachers, which would confirm the working hypotheses initially formulated.
