This study deals with the importance of the nursing area in the SUS system and its sizing, as well as the professionals who can develop it, and finally the use of the EaD methodology as a facilitator of the process. Using a quantitative approach of descriptive exploratory nature, and seeking to respond to the objectives: a) To investigate the importance of nursing professionals in 24-Hour Emergency Units; b) To relate the existing calculations methodologies/theories made to standardize the career of nurses and nursing technicians; And c) To identify the interest of the managers/coordinators in participating in an EaD course for the execution of the sizing of nursing staff. This study covered, throughout the history of EaD in Brazil, the advantages of studying through this methodology and its importance for the labor market today. At the same time, it went through the area of Human Resources Administration, showing what it develops and what it can develop within the 24-Hour Urgency outpatient clinics. It was also verified how the emergency network works through the Unified Health System (SUS) and its importance for the population. It was evidenced the value that the nursing area has in the health units and the consequences of the lack of sizing in their daily life. At the end of the present study, it was tried to demonstrate that it is possible to improve the service through the implementation of the sizing and that one of the ways of learning this tool is the study through Distance Education.
