BASIC COMPUTER TEACHING TO VISUALLY DISABLED PEOPLE IN E-LEARNING SYSTEM IN CAPE VERDE
ABSTRACT
Nowadays, it is more and more usual the presence of visually disabled students in schools with the traditional teaching system. The teacher sometimes does not feel prepared to follow fully all the needs inherent to the visual disability. Regarding to the computer education, these needs become even more pronounced due to the presence of a third element, the computer.
New technologies, particularly computing technologies, can be used as an excellent resource of information access, able to break through barriers once insurmountable and serve as a link between the visually disabled person and leisure opportunities, entertainment, entry into the labour market, among other social inclusion forms and socio-cultural relations.
With this paper we intend to create a basic computer course in e-learning system developed and designed in a special way, so that the visually disabled people can take advantage of all the benefits that computing can provide at their own pace of learning in the new virtual learning space, according to their availability in collaboration with colleagues.
